User Guide
Using the Configuration Tool
Follow the steps below to configure your Demeter device.
- Open the configuration page.
-
Set the device location.
- If browser GPS is enabled, your location will autofill.
- Otherwise, enter the latitude and longitude manually.
- You can also use the map to position the cursor precisely.
-
Set the device time.
- Select a custom time (for example, when you plan to power the device on).
- Or click Now +30s to auto-fill.
- Use +30s (round ↑ to min) to round up to the next full minute, making it easier to sync with a watch.
-
Optional: Adjust the Bird Mode Sample Rate and
Bat Mode Sample Rate.
- Recommended: 48 kHz for birds, 384 kHz for bats.
- Lower sample rates can be used to reduce battery consumption.
- Choose a recording mode. This allows recording in shorter bursts within a scheduled session, which can significantly improve battery life.
-
Set the Trigger Sensitivity using the slider.
- Lower values = higher sensitivity.
- The default value on newer devices is 2500.
-
Advanced options (optional):
- Add a note to the GUANO metadata (useful for custom processing pipelines).
- Change the trigger frequency from the default 20 kHz.
- Click Generate & Save Config to download the configuration JSON file.
- Copy the file to an SD card, or save it directly to the SD card if your system supports this.
- Insert the SD card into your Demeter device and press the button to power it on.
