Quick Start
Get your Demeter up and running in minutes. This page covers powering on, starting/stopping recording, and what the LEDs will do. For full details, see the LED Indicators and Configuration guides.
Before You Begin
- Insert a prepared SD card with your configuration/schedule.
- Ensure the battery is charged.
Power & Startup
- Press the main button once to power on.
- The Mode LED shows Purple for a few seconds while the device initialises.
- After startup, the Mode LED indicates the selected mode: Royal Blue = Bird mode, Yellow = Bat mode.
Start / Stop Recording

When you stop recording manually, the Status LED stays on (Royal Blue in Bird mode / Yellow in Bat mode) to confirm the mode is still selected.
Sleep & Wake
- The device sleeps after 5 seconds of no activity. Most LEDs will turn off.
- Press the main button to wake the device. You can then hold for 3 seconds to start/stop recording as needed.
If Something Looks Wrong
- Check the Error LED colour: Red (Solid) SD, Purple Update, Yellow Config, Cyan Time, Royal Blue Schedule, Orange (Flashing) Low battery.
- Re-seat the SD card, verify the config/schedule files, and ensure the battery has charge.
